A TV remote for your Apple Watch
Rimokon puts a TV remote on your wrist. Swipe between a d-pad and the playback keys, turn the Digital Crown for volume, and the watch sends each press through your iPhone to the TV.
How the watch remote works
The watch never talks to the TV itself. Each press goes from the watch to Rimokon on your iPhone, and the phone sends it on to the TV the same way a home-screen widget does. So the watch needs no pairing of its own: it uses the TV the phone is already paired with.
The top of the screen names the TV, with a tick when a press arrived and a warning when the TV couldn't be reached. You feel a click when a key is sent and a buzz when it isn't. A press that doesn't get through is shown, never saved up and sent later.
Today the watch remote works with TVs and streamers running Google TV or Android TV.
What's on the watch
The watch remote takes the colours and accent of your Rimokon widgets, so it looks like the rest of your remote.
- Navigate: a d-pad that fills the screen, with OK in the middle and Back and Home in the lower corners.
- Play: a large Play/Pause key, then Previous and Next, Mute and Power.
- Your layout: one of your own widget layouts as a third page, chosen on your iPhone.
- The Digital Crown is volume on every page: one notch, one step.
How to set up the Apple Watch remote
Pair the TV on your iPhone once, then install the watch app.
- 1
Pair your TV on the iPhone
Open Rimokon on your iPhone and connect to your TV. The phone and the TV need to be on the same Wi-Fi. - 2
Install the watch app
Open the Watch app on your iPhone, go to My Watch › Available Apps, find Rimokon and tap Install. - 3
Choose your own page
Optional: in Rimokon on the iPhone, open Settings › Widgets › Apple Watch page and pick a layout for the watch. - 4
Add a shortcut
Edit a watch face or the Smart Stack, add Rimokon and choose the page it should open.
Watch-face and Smart Stack shortcuts
Add Rimokon to a watch face or to the Smart Stack and choose the page it opens: Navigate, Play or Your layout. A tap opens the watch remote right on that page.
In the Smart Stack the shortcut comes forward in the evening, when the TV is most likely on.
